Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Staff / Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations with a strong focus on general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash/deposit monitoring. This role plays a key part in maintaining balance sheet accuracy, supporting month-end close, and ensuring effective cash controls within a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain timely monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, prepaid expenses, and inventory-related accounts
- Research and resolve reconciling items, ensuring issues are clearly documented and driven to resolution
- Prepare and review journal entries including accruals, reclassifications, and correcting entries
- Support month-end close processes, including account analysis and tie-outs
Accounts Payable
- Support accounts payable processing and controls, including invoice coding, matching, approvals, and vendor maintenance
- Ensure accurate expense recognition and proper accruals for unrecorded liabilities
- Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and timely discrepancy resolution
Accounts Receivable & Deposits
- Support accounts receivable activities including invoicing, cash application, customer account maintenance, and aging review
- Monitor daily deposits and cash receipts to ensure accurate and timely recording
- Research short payments, chargebacks, and unidentified receipts in partnership with internal teams
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience in retail or distribution
- Strong experience with general ledger reconciliations and ownership of balance sheet accounts
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, and bank reconciliations
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliation schedules
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems
